Should you get a new roof

A group of people working on the side of a building.

A roof is the main part of your home, whether you like it or not. It’s absolutely vital to your very existence. When it comes to installing a new roof atop of your home, you would want to make sure your previous roof is out of use, and that your new roof will be a perfect fit for your home.

There are many reasons why a homeowner may decide to replace its’ existing roof, but we won’t go into details. You have your reason for deciding on such a costly investment.

There are some basic things you should look out for when deciding to invest in a brand new roofing system. But first of all, you should make sure that your roof needs to be replaced. It is recommended to check your roof twice a year, but under certain conditions, a need may arise for you to check it more often than that. When checking, check your gutter, your shingles, your chimney, your attic and upper floor, in case you have one. Furthermore, check your insulation, ventilation and piping just to make sure everything’s fine with those. However, to keep your roof shining and at its’ prime throughout its many years of use, it is recommended to do smaller inspections at different times.

To make everything clear, divide your inspection into two parts: inspecting the inside of your house, and inspecting the outside of your house.

While you’re working on the interior, check your ceiling for any possible signs of dark stains. Also, check your door frames and the corners of your rooms for signs of sagging, water damage or leaking in general. Besides spots, trails may occur that will also provide evidence that you need to work on your home.

While inspecting the exterior, focus on cracks, shingles, gutter, algae, moss, or any other thing that might spark your interest. Just to be sure, when checking, if you happen to run into anything abnormal, contact an expert and have him check it out.

If the damage done to your roof is too much to handle, you will logically decide to remove the existing one and get a new roof. To narrow down the choice before consulting with an expert, you might want to consider the climate you live in. Check for the annual amounts of rain, wind and snow and look for roofing systems that will provide the perfect counterpart to those problems. Afterward, call an expert and have him come by and inspect your roofing system in its entirety.

Like you would treat any problem concerning your body, get a second opinion, and a third if you want to. Hell, go and get a fourth opinion if that’s what will help you in making the ultimate decision. But no matter what, consider the expertise of the contractor you’ve decided to hire. Make sure he has all the necessary validations and certificates to be able to work on your house. After all, it’s your house.

Great Service

I choose Bill Hubbell over 3 other roofers home depot because he made the roof happen at a critical weather situation labor day weekend that could have resulted in much home owner ins. damage
