Broken vent booting could be a problem
Your roof probably has small pipes that stick out, right? If your answer is yes then you have roof vents. Roof vents are meant to eliminate the excess water and seize the moisture from the inside of your property. Search for signs of dark spots.
Roof vents are mostly sealed together with a flashing. And you know how we feel about flashing. Flashing is the most often reason why a leak appears. Flashing is put around the opening and the rubber boot is placed over the area where the pipe sticks out of the roof. Aging can cause the flashing to break and a leak to appear.
You should use a small knife to remove the rubber boot surround the vent. Take a pry bar and break the seal on any shingles that are connected to this. Put a new rubber under the shingles and over the vent. Bring it down to the roof base. Make sure to secure a new boot with roofing nails or layer and add could under the shingles.
Clogged gutters lead to leaking
Clogged gutters are luckily easy to fix. If you notice leaves or anything sticking out of the gutter, then it is probably clogged.
Gutters have a purpose of keeping the water away from your roof and your home. If it is clogged, it can’t perform. Rainwater or snow will amass in one area until it goes through the cracks right into your house.
There is not a special way of fixing this. It simply solved with cleaning. Pull out the stuff from your gutters using your hands or a small shovel.
Search for any signs of tearing on the mud cap or around the top of the chimney. Small holes in the places where the chimney is connected to the roof can be critical. Pay your attention to the flashing and the shingles surrounding these areas. Mortar is a mixture of water sand and cement, and it is used on chimneys.
